Seeds are collected in September and October and are sown in mid-December. Sown seed trays are covered and stratified for 3 mo in an unheated polyhouse. Seed trays are uncovered in early March and seeds germinate in 10 to 20 d. Shrub yellowroot seedlings are transplanted into plugs during the first growing season and are overwintered in an unheated polyhouse before being transplanted into 2-l (2.1-q) containers the following spring. It takes approximately 16 mo to go from germinated seeds to salable plants.
